S1E6 The Eye

'The Eye' is the episode that converted Andor's remaining sceptics. The Aldhani heist - three episodes in the building, one episode executing - runs against a celestial meteor shower that the show uses as both cover and grandeur: the theft of an Imperial payroll timed to a once-a-year phenomenon that draws the entire garrison's attention skyward. Director Susanna White constructs the heist with the temporal discipline of the best caper filmmaking - each beat has a clock attached, each team member's role is clear, each complication is earned rather than contrived. The action serves the show's political argument: what looks like a raid is an act of insurrection, what looks like theft is the funding of a resistance, and the meteor shower overhead is nature completely indifferent to the politics being conducted beneath it. IGN's claim that 'The Eye is the best single hour of Star Wars ever put to screen' drew wide agreement. The claim holds.
