What BollyAI Thinks

Season 2 pivoted from spatial looping to temporal displacement, sending Nadia backwards through her family's history via a Budapest-to-New York subway line. Critics maintained the 97 percent mark but the RT consensus itself noted that not all the gambles pay off, making this the more polarising of the two seasons. The formal ambition is genuine - the show uses time travel to explore intergenerational trauma and wartime dispossession - but the season loses some of Season 1's compressed urgency across seven episodes. Still, Lyonne's performance and the show's refusal to sentimentalise its protagonist remain assets.

  • Stylistically and philosophically consistent with its predecessor, it's different enough to not feel like a calculating retread.

Season Over Season

Season 2 trades the tight single-location premise for wider historical sweep, gaining thematic depth but losing some of the debut's structural elegance.
